10 best Catfish and the Bottlemen songs

1. Cocoon

One of probably the most popular Catfish and the Bottlemen’s tracks, Cocoon tells mostly of loyalty in love with McCann preferring to go blind than let his lover down. The song even went as far as being featured in the 2015 Official Soundtrack.

2. Soundcheck

Soundcheck is one of those tracks that make you giddy after a reunion of sorts, bringing you the feeling of excitement when you meet someone again after a long time.

3. 7

“Promise again that I would call her, forget the time ‘cause I’m seven hours behind.” For people with “Quality Time” as their love language, this ballad is more like a jetlag love rather than a falling out of sorts. Either way the song is enough to bring fans on the tips of their toes when they sing along to it.

4. Hourglass

The band’s wildcard entry is placed in the middle of The Balcony with its soft tune and sincere vocals. The rather vulgar song is presented in a way where there is just the right amount of longing and impatience in McCan’s lyrics that it’s hard to dislike and definitely easy to sing along to.

5. Longshot

Opening the band’s third album release, Longshot seemingly boasts an anthem that celebrates longevity and success after the hard years of hard work and resilience.

6. Rango

Despite the cheeky, star wars reference ridden music video lead by what seems to be the cutest protagonist in the history of black and white motion pictures, Rango tells of the back and forth between a love that drives you crazy and sane all in the same breath.

7. Fallout

Despite the song sounding like your usual falling out with a lover, Van McCann jokingly exposed the meaning of the song in a behind-the-scenes video for the music video to Pacifier. According to the frontman it was about the band’s then manager leaving him, the vocalist of the band… behind in Leeds. While the rest of the band was on their way to the next gig.

8. Conversation

Despite The Balance leaning towards the band’s experimentative album, Conversation is one of the tracks in the album that brings back the same intricate riffs and catchy lyricism that takes fans back to where it all started.

9. Business

Definitely one of the fan favorites, Business is a track with lyricism that is a balance between being painfully honest and just downright cheeky. Paired with just the right amount of grit in the instrumentals, its that one track everyone can’t seem to stop listening to over and over.

10. Homesick

“I got misled, mistook, discard.” Opening the band’s debut album is Homesick, the track that’s the right amount of sweet but nothing short of emotion. The lyricism in the track perfectly embodies the opening lyrics to this track with its rather abrupt ending.
