Have you ever listened to a band and immediately felt like they were writing they’re music just for you? For me, that band is The Score. One of the most underrated bands of today.
With only three full albums under their belt, they’re perhaps not as significant as other bands, but that hasn’t stopped them from producing some of the best music to grace the alternative scene in recent memory.
The Score’s music feels almost personal, in particular to struggling artists. So for your reading and listening pleasure, here are the top 10 The Score songs you should listen to.
10. Dreamin
At number 10, “Dreamin” is a fantastic collaboration with blackbear. A great mix of The Score’s stadium alt-rock and a more hip hop sound than is typical of the band.
9. Stronger
Have you ever looked for a song to motivate you to do the thing you’re most passionate about? If you haven’t found it, I’d like to suggest “Stronger.” You’ll feel a surge of inspiration and determination as the beat thuds in your ears.
8. Glory
“Glory” is one of those songs that keeps the aforementioned determination going even further! A strong “bad-boy” backbeat helps this one stick out amongst many of The Score’s best.
7. Revolution
“Revolution” is a song that builds from the start. A simple acoustic intro leads very quickly to the drumming and a chorus that reflects its themes of revolution and revolt.
6. Higher
Another tough-sounding anthem that gets the listener pumped and ready for whatever challenge they’re about to deal tackle. The Score is your life’s struggles soundtrack.
5. Legend
One of the band’s most popular releases to date, “Legend,” feels like the kind of song off of which a band like this might build their own legend.
4. Big Dreams
“Big Dreams” departs a little from the typical bombastic sound of The Score’s usual stylings, opting for a more popish sound than expected. The optimistic hope of the lyrics, however, is the best part of the song, earning “Big Dreams” its spot on this list.
3. Pull the Cord
A fast-paced offering from a band like the Score is always welcome. Their music typically leans towards a safer mid-range tempo. But “Pull the Cord” throws that safety to the wind and opts to lean on a guitar-heavy refrain that rocks you fast and doesn’t let go.
2. Unstoppable
If you’ve never actively listened to The Score, but you listen to alt music, you could be pretty much guaranteed to have heard this one. It is the band’s most played song, and with good reason.
1. Born for This
Sitting at number 1 is “Born for This,” a stadium rock anthem focusing on the warrior spirit within artists and their perseverance at their craft. The refrain, like many of their songs, keeps your blood pumping and makes you ready to take on the challenge of your chosen art form and the battle that comes with not just succeeding but excelling at it.
